Kidney Donation

Poorly controlled diabetes
Poorly controlled high blood pressure
Kidney stones
Dehydration
Over medication (ibubrofen, etc.)

What do all of these have in common? Yikes – kidney failure… not all of these combined, but possibly individually can cause kidney failure.

Some people are lucky enough to benefit from a kidney transplant. Sometimes we might take for granted our organs working properly. After reading today’s article on kidney donation, research what all is involved in donating a kidney.

A) Post what you find out about the recovery from kidney donation
B) Post any personal information you have about kidney donation
C) Post what you find out about black market kidney donation

Go through the kidney tutorials to prepare for tomorrow's dissection:

1)The recovery symptoms after "doning" a kidney are: You will have limited activities such as, not lifting anything that weighs over 20 lbs. and frequent naps. The patient will be very tired the first week or so. You are encouraged to walk a lot afterwards. Due to wounds on the area that was cut open it will swell so you need to wear loose comfy clothes.
2)I do not have any personal in formation on kidney donation, although on the movie "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" , dickie's manager gave a director his kidney in order for dickie to get a role in the directors movie.
3)On About.com, i found out that people who need a kidney transplant cant wait any loger and get very inpatient waiting on a list so the go to the balck market for a kidney and then return home for follow-up care. The black market is located particularly in Middle East and Asia. The kidneys on the black market are at high risk for infections and diseases. They also have a higher risk of the body rejecting the kidney.Theyre also at a great risk for cancer and even death.

After surgery, you will find that you are in a recovery room also known as the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. You will also find that your throat will be sore from a breathing tube that they used during surgery.

I do not know anyone having kidney donation surgery but I have heard of it on the television.

People are at higher risk of infection and death when having a black market kidney donation. Also, people that go for black market kidney donation are at high risk for cancer and rejection of the kidney.

Kidney Donation. I've heard of people donating their kidneys for someone else. I don't think i know anyone personally who has donated their kidney. But i have heard of people doing it. Though, I don't think i would do it, unless it was someone close to me that needed one and i just happen to be a match.
The recovery from giving a kidney may be more than it's worth(in my opinion). There is the risk of bleeding, infection and/or breathing problems. you could also have some side effects of the medicine your giving after the surgery.
It's like a market where kidneys are sold to people who need them. Some people go over seas to other countries to buy kidneys through the black kidney market. They get it transplanted there and then come back to their home for the follow-up treatment. It's like a global exchange of kidneys.

A) When you wake up from surgery you will be in a recovery room called the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. You will have an oxygen mask covering your nose and mouth. This mask gives you a cool mist of oxygen, which helps eliminate the remaining anesthesia from your system and soothes your throat. Your throat may be sore from the breathing tube that was present during your surgery; this soreness usually stops after 1 or 2 days.

B) I would donate a kidney if I was able to or of age. Kidney donation is a good thing to do because if you have two that function fine, then you could donate the other to medical enhancement. Someone could use a spare kidney you know!

C) The Organ Black Market is an illegal thing! Don't do it! It will get you in trouble. It also can hurt you. You may get someone to operate on you that doesn't have clue what their doing and it could mess you up. It could also get the person doing the operation to get in lots and lots trouble.

Black market can be very dangerous. To me on my opinion black kidney is a waiting list and i wouldn't do it.

1.) The recovery rate for kidney donors is steadly increasing thanks to a new style called the laparoscopic technique. The donor is encouraged not to lift any object up to twenty lbs for the first six weeks of recovery, but they are asked to exercise during their time of rest, a great exercise for the time is walking, the donor will most likely be able to return to work within two weeks depending on the job.

2.) I have not heard much about the operation, but it sounds safe and a good use of one's life, especialy since you have two kidneys and only need one, the problem is with most donations, you need an exact match, which usually seems near impossible to find. Even with this information, I will not donate a kidney until one of my family members is in need.

3.) I knew that people sold many organs on the black market, I even knew that kidneys were sold there, but I didn't know that the black marketed kidneys would cost so much. $85,000 is what professional organ hunters would charge for just one kidney, at the normal price of just $3,000 you still might have to wait up to ten years, but with a failing organ, do you have the time?

To donate a kidney, doctors look for 3 things: you have blood and tissue types compatible with the recipient, you are healthy, and you have two healthy kidneys.
A- for the first 24 hours of your recovery, you will be limited to a clear liquid diet, you will be able to go back to a solid food diet, after you pass gas. You can not lift anything over 10 pounds for the first 2 to 4 weeks. You will also have to keep the incision from the surgery covered up.
B- I have not heard of anyone in my family or any of my friends getting a kidney transplant, i just know that you can live off of one kidney, as long as your are healthy.
C- Trying to get a black market kidney can be VERY dangerous, sometimes even deadly.
D- Black Market kidney donations, is when you sell kidneys illegally. These kidneys havent been checked or anything, so they could be filled with many diseases or infections. You are at a higher risk of cancer and youre body can reject the kidney, and you could die.

The recovery from a kidney transplant is pretty typical. Once you awake from surgery, you'll subside in a recovery room before moving to your assigned hospital room. The risks of kidney donation are basically the same for any other surgery. There will a risk of bleeding, infections, or severe breathing problems. Your diet from the kidney transplant will consist of plainly ice chips and clear liquids for the first 24 hours. Once you've passed gas and/or had a bowel movement, your food intake will gradually increase to solid foods. I don't have any personal experiences with kidneys or kidney transplants but I have an aunt who had a kidney transplant and she recovered fine with no problems in the end. From what I found out about black market kidney donation, people are only selling one of their kidneys to make money and their not even sure if it's safe or not.

The body naturally tries to reject (get rid of) things that are foreign to it. This function is called the body's immune response. Antibodies and white blood cells called lymphocytes attack viruses, fungi, bacteria, and other foreign substances (such as a transplanted organ).

i dont know anyone that has had a transplant of any sort

Kidney disease is at epidemic levels. Kidney transplantation is usually preferable to dialysis. The supply of donated kidneys cannot keep up with demand. Affluent patients are increasingly traveling abroad to purchase black market kidneys from desperately poor people or prisoners. Without adequate donor screening and quality surgical and medical care, these black market kidneys place transplant tourists at unacceptably high risk for serious infections, graft loss, cancer and death.

A) Post what you find out about the recovery from the kidney donation.
~You can return to work after receiving a kidney tansplant but you have to follow certain guidlines.Like you have to make sure you have all medicines on you and make sure you have a number to the Transplant Center. When having kidney transplant there are also the risk of excessive bleeding.
B) Post any personal information you have about kidney doantion
~I really don't know too much about the kidney transplant thing except for you need it when you have kidney failure, and it might take a while to find a kidney donor, and if you do find a kidney donor your life will hopefully get back on track, but sometimes your life could get more complicated.
C) Post what you find out about black market kidney donation.
~People i Black Market are at a higher risk of death and rejection. They are also at risk of infection and cancer.

I have done some research on kidney donators and their recovery, basically donators can have a normal life. After you donate your kidney the doctors will encourage you to get out of bed because the more you move the less complications will occur in your body. Also, after your surgery you cannot lift or push anything over ten pounds, you have to increase your activity level and your diet will be increased to solid foods.
I don't know of anybody that has donated a kidney or has received one but I have heard some stuff about it....none of my family member has needed a kidney nor donated so I really don't worry about that subject.
I have also done research in the black market kidney donation and it is a system in which Americans are waiting for kidneys but are becoming impatient and some even go out of the country to find one but it says that this system is also illegal in most countries but people still do it because they are desperate. I would also do it if i was in their place....

The recovery from a Kidney Transplant is that you might have some pain at the incision cites. A Nasogastric tube that was put in your nostrils and in your stomach is removed in the recovery room. I have heard that when dealing with a Kidney transplant that you have to be put on dialysis and on a waiting list until they find a kidney that matches you. The Black Market which is also called the Underground Market is a when things are bought or stolen and are sold illegally. The Black Market Kidneys are very expensive and are dangerous and sometimes maybe even fatal. The Black Market kidneys are dangerous because the haven't been checked out by a doctor for any diseases or malfunctions. You are at higher risk for cancer and many other diseases and infections if you are using the Black Market kidneys.

Your recovery from kidney donation is basically like any other recovery from surgery. You still have to wait a couple of weeks in the hospital. They check your oxygen levels and all of your other vital signs. You feel pain at the incision sites, they also measure how much you drink and your urine output, and you wear PAS stockings to regulate circulations. The only thing that I know is that one of my Uncles needed a kidney transplant because he had a Kidney Stone. I have found out that black market kidney donation thrives in India where most of the people selling their kidneys get cheated because they don't have a proper education and I have learned that it is very dangerous because it can cause you horrible pain and you are prone to infection and serious health disease.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT MY EXTRA POINT.

A) After a person has a kidney donation transplant, it will take a few days, normally three to five, for the kidney to normally function. During the first twenty-four hours, the person will be given a diet of ice chips and clear liquids. They will also give you a device to help you breath better. After the person is released from the hospital, the person is required not to lift anything over 10 to 20 pounds for the first six weeks. They are allowed to walk around as exercise. Also, they will have to take medicines that will prevent his/her immune system from rejecting the donated kidney.

B) I Know about donating kidneys, but I don't know as many people who have donated a kidney or received one. I may have a family member who has donated one or had to have a transplant, but I'm not entirely sure.

C) Many people become inpatient while waiting for a kidney donation, so they get one from a different country, and come back for follow up care. However, most of them are at high risk for getting an infection. They are also at risk for losing the kidney because of rejection. The reason for this is that many people don't get a documentation of their transplant, so they don't know how well the surgery went. They can also get cancer from the donated kidney.

The risk of the black market kidney transplants are that you can recieve infections and you could even die. There is a higher risk of losing a kidney to rejection and cancer.

Donating a kidney. One good thing about kidney donations is that you don't have to be related to someone to donate a kidney to them. Anyone between the ages of 18 to 70 that have good health can be a kidney donor, people over the age of 80 may also be a donor but they have to take more extensive tests.
A. Within the first 24 hours most patients usually have sharp abdominal pain. For the first 24 hours you will be limited to ice chips and clear fluids. Most patients are encouraged to get up out of bed the day after surgery. Most people require four to twelve weeks off from work, but naturally depending on the type of work you do will depend on how much time you will need off from work.
B. I personally don't have any personal information or experience in kidney donations. I do however know that you can live with one kidney and that kidney transplant can be a very life saving surgery.
C.Black Market Kidney Donations are Kidney donations that are illegal. In countries like India and Moldova these donations are more popular. Most people who do these are promised money or a job that they never see. Black Market kidneys can be very dangerous, so be very careful when or if you use them.

A)Recovery
1)Diet
For the first 24 hours after your surgery, you will be limited to ice chips and/or clear liquids. Once you have passed gas from the rectal area or have had a bowel movement, your diet will slowly be increased to solid food.
2)Activity
You will be encouraged to get out of bed starting the first day after surgery. The more you move, the less chance for complications such as pneumonia or blood clots in your legs.
3)Incentive spirometer
An incentive spirometer is a breathing aid you will use after surgery to help keep your lungs clear and active while you are recovering from surgery. Once you are able to get out of bed, walk in the hallway and cough well, you may stop using the incentive spirometer.
B)personal information
I really don't know about kidney transplant. I heard about it before on TV a few times but thats it.
C)People who need money find someone who needs a kidney and sell it to them. In some instances the surgery is not done by a professional resulting in more damage sometimes death.

Black market is just a thing where you can donate your kidneys and other organs for money, b/c all you need is one kidney anyway.People buy kidneys from over seas, but the kidneys from black market are at a higher risks of infection and other problems.

A-After your kidney transplant operation is done with youll find yourself quite tired from the anesthsia wearing off, your throat will be very sore from the brething tube used during the surgery.I suggest you ask for a sprite its a very easty-to-swallow drink.A few minutes later a nurse or the doctor that performed you will knock at the door and ask a few neccessary questions like how do you feel and tell you what medicine theyve got you on and things of that nature.
B-I do not Know very much about these operations except from what Ive seen and heard on tv.Although i have had surgery...on my ear though so it dont count.
C-The black market runs rampid through out South America and is just a means of making money if your poor. Many people turn to the black market for money but some do not return because the operation is very dirty and you may not even have a real doctor! The risks dont stop there you could get cancer, aids, infection,or even the kidney being rejected. So just ask someone else for money.

Recovery from kidney donation

When you wake up from surgery you will be in a recovery room called the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Your throat may be sore from the breathing tube that was present during your surgery; this soreness usually subsides after 1 or 2 days. Some patients experience abdominal bloating and cramping after surgery. After 24 hours, your discomfort should gradually decrease and will continue to decrease over the next 2 to 4 weeks as you return to your regular activities. You can usually expect to be out of hospital within a week, and you may be able to return to full activities after six weeks. However, it is often best to plan for three months off work. The donor is encouraged not to lift any object up to twenty lbs for the first six weeks of recovery, but they are asked to exercise during their time of rest. For the first day you have a clear liquid diet.

Personal information you have about kidney donation

I don’t know anyone who has donated a kidney. But I know that it is not necessary for living donors to be related to the recipient, they are usually friends or relatives. The decision to donate an organ is important and must be made by the person and his or her loved ones. General requirements of living kidney donors are they must have good general health and normal kidney function and anatomy, as determined in the evaluation process

. Black market kidney donation

The statistics are overwhelming. Some 96,825 patients are waiting for an organ donation in the United States, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing. In 2002, more than 6,000 people died during their wait. This is when people get tired of waiting on a kidney and buy one off the street for cheaper.

b)Well i don't know nobody on my family or friends that have donate there kidney. But i do have heard it before like on the news, that some parent's have donate there kidney to there sons, daughters,or there other familys that had need it, they also donate to there friend's ,but it's a a major decision, and you have to be, between the ages of 18 and early 70s to donate.

c)It's a system in which you cna get a kidney frim a donor but it is illegal, in some parts of the world. The wait for a kidney can stretch for years .some people die waiting for a kidney.

I would like to start this with A):
Recovery for donors depends upon what their normal activities are. Generally people can go back to work after two or three weeks. The first six or so weeks, it's suggested that the donor not lift any weight over twenty pounds.Risks include basically anything included in any major surgeries; bleeding, chances of infection, blood clots. That whole deal. Usually though, it's pretty uneventful and normal.
Now for B):
I once knew a girl, and we will not speak her name. She only had one kidney, and as a result, she usually just got really tired before us. That's about it. I also don't think she'd ever be able to ever drink alcohol. That's the extent of my personal knowledge.
C) is going to be difficult....
Right, the 'Black Market' sells kidneys. They also sell other organs. A lot of these illegal organs are acquired from tourists in foreign lands. That's all I got.

A)What I found about the recovery from kidney donation is that the pain is bearable, btu the worst pain. I also found that people said that after the surgery is done getting into the wheelchair is difficult.
B)Someone at my moms job is going to donate his kidney to his wife. She has had kidney failure.
C)What I found about the black market kidney donation is that many Indian cities such as Chennai have been bribing people to donate their kidneys for a certain amout of money.
