My mom has a friend that is a diabetic. She has to stick a needle in her stomach everyday and she takes other medications. She has high blood pressure and can't have a lot of seasoning on her food. She doesn't eat a lot of chocolate but she eat peppermints and chewing gum. She is a very healthy woman and I am glad she is a close friend to my mom and our family.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease of the insulin producing better cells of the pancreas. It is a virus that triggers the immune system to attack and destroy cells. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Either the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin. Cells get starved for energy and high blood glucose may hurt the eyes, kidneys, nerves, or heart.
